Neurofeedback 101:
The Science Behind Neurofeedback
Changing your brain changes your life.
Studies in neuroplasticity have debunked the notion that our brains are hardwired and unchanging. The brain can change. It can be retrained.
Neuroscientists realized long ago: neurons that fire together, wire together. This means the more you do something, the stronger the neuro-pathways become that reinforce that activity, emotion, or behavior. The more we throw a basketball or speak Spanish, the more those behaviors become automatic, requiring less thought and energy. The same reinforcing effect occurs with emotional, cognitive, and biochemical habits, as they are all controlled by brain waves. Retrain the brain waves, and you change the habit.
Below is a collection of websites, articles, videos, and books that share some of the science behind neurofeedback.
